Prime Video is opening a new chapter in the world of Reacher on Wednesday, Sept. 16, when Neagley premieres with all eight episodes of its first season available at once. Maria Sten returns as Frances Neagley, the security professional first seen in the original series, and the whole run lands at 3 a.m. ET, 12 a.m. PT.
The release gives subscribers a full season to watch immediately, which is why the search traffic is likely to spike now. Neagley is being positioned as a spin-off from the world of Reacher, and it keeps Sten at the center as the titular character, a former military protege of Jack Reacher in the Army's 110th Special Investigations Unit.
This time, Neagley begins after she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident. That setup gives the series a cleaner break from the parent show than a simple continuation would, even as it stays tied to the same world.
The timing adds a wrinkle. Neagley arrives on the same day Reacher is wrapping up its fourth season, so Prime Video is pushing the franchise forward even as the main series closes a chapter. Alan Ritchson is set to appear in a guest role as Jack Reacher, which should give the spin-off a direct handoff without turning it into a copy of the original.
For viewers, the answer is straightforward: all eight episodes are there on day one, and they come at no additional cost for Prime Video subscribers. The bigger question is whether Neagley can stand on its own once the familiar name fades and Frances Neagley has to carry the story herself.
