Acrisure Stadium is heading into its 25th anniversary with a round of offseason upgrades that will change how fans move, eat and watch games across the building. The updates include a new playing surface, expanded food and beverage options and fresh in-game entertainment features for the 2026 season.
Jay Roberts said the work fits the stadium’s history of steady improvement. “As Acrisure Stadium marks its 25th anniversary, we’re doing what we’ve always done: continually improve the stadium so we compete at the highest level, on and off the field,” he said. He added that this offseason’s changes are meant to “set the team up for success and deliver a memorable gameday experience for every fan who walks through our gates.”
The new field is among the most visible changes. Grounds crews moved to Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass sod grown on plastic, a lighter green hybrid that is built for cold weather, drought and heavy traffic while offering more traction and better divot resistance. That sits alongside a slate of upgrades meant to touch nearly every part of the stadium, from the concourses and clubs to suites and fan gathering areas.
One of the bigger additions is a premium members’ club with a speakeasy-inspired atmosphere and a resident mixologist. It has behind-the-scenes views of the Steelers locker room entrance and player tunnel, plus direct access to the 100-level concourse. The club was already sold out for the 2026 season, even as other parts of the upgrade plan are still being introduced.
The entertainment changes are spread around the building. A new stage above the Ford Fan Zone in the southwest corner of the south end zone will host DJs and bands, while a separate fan gathering space from the southeast corner next to the Ford Fan Zone and above the FedEx Great Hall will lean into team history with newspaper editions and articles from 1975 through 2000. That space will also include couches and TVs, along with a fenced-off section that comes with club level tickets, exclusive pregame field passes and an all-inclusive food and beverage spread before kickoff.
The food is changing just as broadly. New TVs with updated graphics are set to improve viewing throughout the concourses, clubs and suites, while food stands will add upscale nachos, space-age ice cream balls, a comfort-food pierogi blend with unexpected toppings, a vodka, OJ and Starry cocktail served in a Steelers logo vessel for fans 21 and older, a Pittsburgh-style twist on a classic pig-in-a-blanket, kale and berry salads, Dippin' Dots and a new Yinzer Wrap. Pick 6 Sammies will also add Alla Famiglia hot sausage sandwiches, Steel City steak salads, house smash burgers, chicken tenders and seasoned fries.
The push comes as the stadium leans into its anniversary year and a new season that already carries fresh expectations. Mike McCarthy is the new head coach, and the Steelers have several new players, which makes the stadium’s makeover part of a wider reset around the team. Fans who have already followed the changes around Acrisure Stadium, from earlier event coverage to a summer cleanup before stadium shows, will see that the building is being treated less like a fixed venue and more like something still being tuned for what comes next. What remains unanswered is how much all of it cost and which of the upgrades will be the last to open once the 2026 season begins.
