The New England Patriots activated WR Mack Hollins to the 53-man roster from injured reserve, bringing back a receiver who had been out since Oct. 10. Hollins had played in the first four games of the season and had 15 receptions for 209 yards before the move.
The timing matters because this was not an isolated transaction. It came as the Patriots continued a busy run of roster shuffling that also included practice squad signings, releases, and elevations, with several players moving on and off the board as the team adjusted its depth.
Hollins' return gives the Patriots an immediate option at receiver after a short stay on injured reserve, but the move does not say whether he will be active right away for the next game. That is the part that still hangs in the air: the roster spot is open, the activation is done, and the next decision will be whether the team uses him immediately or keeps reshaping around him.
Elsewhere in the same wave of moves, the Patriots signed CB Kindle Vildor to the practice squad, later signed S Elliott Davison after his release on Nov. 2, and activated T Marcus Bryant from injured reserve. They also released CB Kindle Vildor, WR Cameron Dorner, OL Jake Kubas and S Elliott Davison from the practice squad at different points, while adding LB Elias Neal, RB Terrell Jennings, RB Lan Larison, WR Ryan Miller, LB Jose Ramirez and others in a series of corresponding transactions.
The broader list shows how quickly the Patriots are cycling personnel through the 53-man roster and practice squad. Along with Hollins, the team activated Lan Larison to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, elevated Ryan Miller, Xavier Newman-Johnson and Benton Whitley, and made additional injury-related moves involving Alijah Vera-Tucker, Romeo Doubs and Bryce Baringer. Hollins' return stands out because it reverses an injury move from less than a month earlier and puts him back in the mix after a quiet stretch off the field.
