Joey Bosa update: Tyreek Hill's comeback delayed until at least October

Drew Rosenhaus said on Wednesday that doctors have advised Tyreek Hill to delay any NFL comeback until at least October, a cautious step for the free-agent wide receiver as he works back from a major knee injury. Rosenhaus said the move is about “playing it on the safe side.”

The timing matters because Hill, 32, is not just any injured veteran. He led the league with 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdown grabs in 2023, then watched his production fall off sharply in 2024 before his 2025 campaign ended after four games when he dislocated his left knee and tore the ACL in the same knee. He also said in a July video posted online that he had “no power” in the surgically repaired knee, a blunt description that showed how far he still had to go.

Rosenhaus discussed the situation on The Pat McAfee Show, saying teams have shown interest in Hill even as doctors keep the return window tight. That interest is part of why the update landed now: Hill was moving much better during a workout earlier this month, enough to suggest progress, but not enough to change the medical advice that a real comeback should wait until at least October.

The gap is simple and important. Hill is improving, and there is still a market for a receiver with his résumé, but a workout is not the same thing as being ready for the 2026 NFL season. At this point, the question is not whether teams know what Hill once was. It is whether any of them are willing to wait through October for a player doctors still want to protect.
