The Spice Girls have set off a fresh wave of speculation after posting a teaser on Wednesday, September 9 that said something would be announced on Thursday, September 10 at 9 a.m. ET / 2 p.m. BST. The clip leaned hard on the group’s own history, using the opening of "Wannabe," footage shot on the steps of London’s St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and a copy of The Stage, the paper that carried the original 1994 ad seeking members for the all-female group that became the Spice Girls.

That is why fans are reading so much into a teaser that would otherwise look like a simple countdown. The group told viewers they would need a "vinyl or CD player," which pointed many to the physical format era of the debut album Spice and to the idea of a 30th anniversary project. Some also focused on what looked like a phone number, " 061126," and argued that it could be a coded nod to November 6, 2026, though nothing in the post confirmed that reading.

The timing matters because the group has already spent this year marking the 30th anniversary of "Wannabe," and Spice itself turns 30 in November. That has kept the anniversary chatter alive, especially after Mel B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham all spoke at different points about wanting to do something for the milestone. Mel C appeared to rule out a 2026 reunion earlier this year, which has only sharpened the guessing game around what the group is actually preparing.

There is history behind the speculation, and it is hard to ignore it. Geri, Mel B, Mel C and Emma last toured together in 2019, while Victoria has not performed publicly with the group since all five members reunited at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. That is the gap the teaser is playing into, and it is also the tension at the center of it: the clues point toward celebration, but there is still no confirmation that Thursday’s announcement will be a tour, concert, residency or performance.

So the next real answer arrives on Thursday, September 10 at 9 a.m. ET / 2 p.m. BST. Until then, the teaser has done exactly what it was built to do — pull the group’s past into the present and leave fans waiting to see whether the reveal is an anniversary package, a reunion hint or something smaller that only sounds bigger because Spice Girls know how to keep attention on them.
