Warner Bros. Pictures has released the trailer for Remain Movie, putting Jake Gyllenhaal’s next role in front of audiences as Tate Gordon, an architect who heads to a coastal town to finish his project.
The trailer does more than show a romance beginning to form. It pairs Gyllenhaal with Phoebe Dynevor and introduces the town’s other side, where a mysterious menace hangs over the story even as Tate meets a charming young woman there.
That mix is what makes the film easy to search for now. Remain comes from M. Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks, two names that point in different directions but are tied together here in one project: Shyamalan directs and writes, while the film is based on a story by Shyamalan and Sparks.
Gyllenhaal is joined by Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty and Jay O. Sanders, giving the studio a cast that stretches beyond the central pairing. The trailer also signals the rest of the creative team, with Adolpho Veloso as director of photography, Sam Lisenco as production designer, Noemi Preiswerk as editor, Caroline Duncan as costume designer, Douglas Aibel as casting director, Gabe Hilfer as music supervisor and James Newton Howard as composer.
The film’s setup carries its own friction. Tate Gordon is there for a professional job, not a fresh start, yet the story places him in a place where romance and unease are moving at the same time. The menace is not spelled out in the trailer, which leaves the town’s threat undefined even as the emotional shape of the story is laid out clearly.
Remain is being presented by Blinding Edge Pictures in association with Warner Bros. Pictures and is set for release in North America on February 5, 2027, after opening in other parts of the world on February 3, 2027. For now, the trailer gives the clearest answer to what the film is trying to be: a love story with something darker pressing in around the edges.
