Brandon Graham is officially done playing football. The Philadelphia Eagles veteran announced Tuesday in Philadelphia that he is ending his career after 16 seasons, closing the door on a second retirement that had only briefly been lifted last year.
Graham, 36, spent his entire NFL career in Philadelphia and left as one of the most durable players in franchise history. His 215 games rank first in team history, and he finished with 79.5 sacks, third-most in Eagles history, while winning two Super Bowl titles.
The timing matters because Graham had already said in March 2025 that he was retiring, one month after the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. Then injuries and an in-season retirement by Za'Darius Smith pushed the Eagles to call him back, and he officially rejoined the team before Week 8 last October.
That comeback was never meant to be a long one. In July on Good Morning Football, Graham said he would rather be on the roster at the start of training camp if he was going to play, adding that if camp did not happen he would probably wrap it up. He returned anyway, played 10 games last season, and finished with three sacks and three quarterback hits before appearing in the Eagles’ 23-19 playoff loss to San Francisco.
What made Graham more than a line on a stat sheet was the moment that helped define Super Bowl 52. His strip sack on Tom Brady late in the fourth quarter helped secure Philadelphia’s 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots, and it is the kind of play that explained why his return last year mattered to the locker room even if it was temporary.
Graham had hinted in March that he had nothing left to prove, saying he gave everything he had and had no regrets. Tuesday made that final. The Eagles now move on without the veteran edge rusher who spent 16 seasons giving them exactly what they asked for, and there is no indication of any further football role for him after this announcement.
