Jamie T had asked organisers in an Instagram video if he could get on the bill at the last minute, then came out and finished with Sheila, Sticks ‘N’ Stones and Zombie before telling NME backstage, “I’m really happy to be where I am,”

Westside Cowboy walked out at Leeds to Kaiser Chiefs’ I Predict A Riot, while Jimmy Bradbury said, “I saw a bucket hat fly in the air: that felt like a necessary Leeds Festival tick-off,” Those are the kinds of moments that give a recap its shape: not just who was booked, but what the weekend felt like once people were inside it.
The only unresolved point is whether Jamie T was formally added late or whether his Instagram plea was part joke, part invitation and all timing. Either way, the answer from Reading 2026 is clear enough: he got the opening slot, the festivals got their freshest look in years, and the first act of the weekend ended up sounding like one of its most deliberate choices.
