Taylor Lautner and Tay Lautner have not ruled out giving their first child the family name. Tay said Taylor “may be in the mix” as the couple prepares for a baby girl, keeping alive the idea of a third Taylor in the household.
The reason the question is drawing attention now is simple: the couple is still narrowing down a name while the birth gets closer, and Tay said they are working with about three to five options. That makes the conversation more than a cute celebrity aside. It is the one public update they have offered on a decision that will follow their daughter for life.
Tay said she feels “so much pressure naming a human,” and joked that if she does not choose Taylor, “the Internet’s literally gonna cancel me.” She added that she is not fully convinced people actually want that name, even as fans seem attached to the possibility. The joke lands because the couple has already spent years leaning into the idea; Tay said they used to tease that if they were having a boy, they would name him Taylor and call him T.J.
That mix of humor and hesitation leaves the real answer still open. The couple married in 2022, held a pink-themed baby shower earlier this month and has said their “little girl is already so loved.” Tay also said in June that she plans to keep the child off social media, suggesting the parents are already drawing boundaries around how much of the baby’s life will be public. For now, the name remains undecided. When the baby comes, so will the answer.
