Leanne Morgan’s second season opens with a milestone she can’t ignore: her character turns 60, then starts wondering whether a little refresh is in order. Season 2 of Leanne is now streaming on Netflix, and the new run wastes no time leaning into age, vanity and the uneasy business of getting older.
That matters today because Morgan’s sitcom is no longer arriving as a curiosity. Season 1 premiered in July 2025, and the new 10-episode installment lands after the comedian has spent years building an audience the old-fashioned way, then turned that base into television, more specials and a bigger stage. Morgan, who will be 61 in October, said the scale still surprises her: “I couldn’t sell 12 tickets, and now I’m doing arenas, and that’s crazy.”
The role is closely tied to the person playing it. Morgan has said, “So much of Leanne is me,” and the show reflects that in plain ways: she still talks about grocery runs, Costco and doing her laundry, even as her career has moved far beyond the club circuit. She spent about 25 years performing in comedy clubs, corporate events and fundraisers while raising three children, and now she is on The Time of Our Lives Tour through January, with a second Netflix special already out and a third on the way.
The opening episode’s setup is also more than a joke about turning 60. The character has separated from her husband, Bill Murphy, after his affair, and the consultation with a plastic surgeon gives the season a more personal edge than a simple midlife punch line. Morgan has been open about the fear underneath the vanity question. “Every day I think: ‘Should I get my eyes done? This is awful creepy looking. What about my neck?’” she said, adding, “Oh, I don’t want to get old, and I don’t know how to work anything.”
That is where Leanne Season 2 finds its friction: Morgan says nothing has changed, yet she is doing arenas and fronting a television show. The same feeling runs through the work around her. She acted with Glen Powell in The Comeback King, which is set for theatrical release in February, and she said Mariah Carey was watching her in You're Cordially Invited and laughing. The next chapter is already set on the calendar, but the open question is whether the series will keep mining the same life it already has, or push Leanne beyond the familiar rhythms that helped make it work in the first place.
