Xelajú MC kept selling tickets in Guatemala City on the day it faced Luis Ángel Firpo in the closing game of the Copa Centroamericana group stage, extending sales for a match that still carried a route to the quarterfinals.
The Junta Directiva de Xelajú MC said fans could buy tickets from 16:00 to 19:00 hours at the taquilla del Cempro, while visiting supporters were directed to the installations of the Academia de la Policía Nacional Civil. Prices were set at Q125.00 in preferencia, Q175.00 in tribuna and Q300.00 in platea. Salvadoran supporters had to pay Q125.00, or $25.00, and would be placed in a sector of the tribuna.
The sales in the capital came after tickets had already been made available to the public since the weekend at the estadio Mario Camposeco. That earlier push did not draw the expected demand, which is why the club kept the window open in Guatemala City as matchday arrived.
What made the final day matter was the math around qualification. Xelajú MC did not just need to beat Firpo; it needed to win by four goals to keep its quarterfinal hopes alive, and it also needed a winner in the other match between Alajuelense and Plaza Amador. That left little margin for a routine home result, and it made every ticket sale part of a narrow, high-stakes push rather than a normal matchday routine.
For supporters, the path was simple and unforgiving: buy the ticket, hope for the margin, and wait on the other result. If the four-goal win did not come, the capital sales would be remembered as the final attempt to fill the stands for a game that needed more than atmosphere to change Xelajú MC’s fate.
