Michael Idov said he and Lily have joined Special Ops: Lioness as writers and supervising producers, a move that points the Paramount+ thriller toward life beyond Season 3. In the same post, Idov called the job an honor, a chance, and a challenge of a lifetime, writing for Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman.
That is why fans are looking at Special Ops: Lioness Season 4 now. The show is halfway finished with Season 3, and Wagner has been unusually blunt about where she thinks it is headed. In a recent interview, she said, “We’re going to get a Season 4. We will, we will. When people see what [Taylor Sheridan] wrote for the finale, we are getting a Season 4. Or I will pay you $100.”
The timing matters because the series already has two hit seasons behind it, and its third run is still in progress. Taylor Sheridan greenlit the show in 2022, and the first three seasons each took roughly 12 months to reach viewers after that official greenlight. If the same pace holds and another season is announced this year, a fall 2027 arrival would fit the pattern.
But the path to that date is not locked in. Season 4 has not been officially greenlit, even as Wagner speaks as if the decision is settled. That gap between confidence and confirmation is the story here: the creative team is already expanding, but the studio has not yet matched that momentum with a formal renewal.
Special Ops: Lioness is built as a high-octane military action-thriller inspired by a real-life US military task force that assisted in offensive and peacekeeping deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan in 2003, with the Lioness Program remaining active until 2013. Seasons 1 and 2 were self-contained installments with definitive endings, which makes any return more than a routine pickup; it has to be earned by the next script, the next response from Paramount+, and the next move from Taylor Sheridan. For now, Wagner is betting out loud that the answer is yes, and she has put $100 on it.
