Gamescom 2026 will open with Opening Night Live, and the showcase is set to put several of the year’s most watched games in one place. FINAL FANTASY 7 Revelation will appear there, with Naoki Hamaguchi set to reveal more about it.

That alone is enough to send fans searching, but the lineup keeps going. CD Projekt Red will show more of Songs of the Past, while Microsoft is bringing Gears of War: E-Day, Minecraft Dungeons 2, Alien Isolation 2 and other heavy hitters to the show. For a market that treats Gamescom Opening Night Games as the place where the first big answers land, this is the kind of schedule that drives attention before the doors even open.

Fable is also in the mix, and its timing explains part of the buzz. The game was supposed to launch this year, but it will now land on Feb. 23, turning the showcase into a stop for both updates and release timing. Metro 2039, which is due in February, will get a dedicated booth on the show floor with hands-on demo stations and photo ops, a sign that the event is trying to do more than flash trailers and move on.

There is still one gap that matters: not every promised appearance comes with the same level of detail. FINAL FANTASY 7 Revelation is confirmed for Opening Night Live, but it is the scale of Hamaguchi’s reveal that will determine how much of the game’s next step the audience actually sees. CD Projekt Red’s Songs of the Past slot carries the same uncertainty, even as the event line-up suggests Gamescom 2026 is being used as a launchpad for multiple long-range projects at once.

That makes the schedule feel bigger than a simple preview list. Gamescom has become the industry’s main public expo since E3 faded, and Opening Night Live has grown into its clearest reveal stage. Xbox will also use its annual Gamescom stream on Aug. 26 to give Persona 4 Revival a fresh glimpse, while Daniel Mullins is bringing Pony Island 2: Panda Circus into the conversation after Inscryption in 2021. The next clear marker is the showcase itself, and the question now is not whether Gamescom 2026 will have big reveals, but how many of them will arrive with enough new material to satisfy the crowd watching from the show floor and from home.
