Blaaskapel Navenant has secured a place at the F1 event in Zandvoort, and Coen says the booking marks one of the ensemble’s biggest performances so far. The twenty-member group will play musical sets and put on an interactive show at several points along the circuit.

The timing matters because the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort is the stage where the group will try to turn months of persistence into a breakthrough. Coen said they had already reached out last year, but the music programme for that edition had already been fixed, so this year they tried again by email and phone until the door opened.

That persistence paid off in more than one way. Navenant became Nederlands kampioen this year, after The Helmondse won Te Land, Ter Zee en In De Lucht last year, and Coen said the Zandvoort invitation feels like the kind of stage that matches that status. He said the ensemble will play during the pauses and during the race itself, moving through the event with time-tested classics, Nederpop, songs by Dries Roelvink and René Froger, and even the F1 themesong.

There is, though, a practical side to the celebration. Coen said the group had to negotiate hard and pay a contribution to get there, a reminder that even a major booking at a marquee event does not arrive as a free gift. He still described the show as a huge opportunity for the ensemble, and said he would like Navenant to become Red Bull’s regular dweilorkest.

For now, the immediate next step is simple: Navenant will take its sound to Zandvoort and play as the race unfolds. Coen said the goal is to bring the crowd into the music and make it one big party, while he also left the door open to future trips, joking that Abu Dhabi and Monaco should not be ruled out.
