Kyle Richards said Mauricio Umansky’s text on their 30th wedding anniversary left her heartbroken, turning a private date into the latest public sign that their separation is still raw. In a preview for an episode of Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th, Richards, 57, said she was already emotional about the milestone when the message arrived.
That is why Mauricio Umansky is drawing fresh attention now. Richards and Umansky separated in July 2023 after nearly three decades of marriage, but the anniversary message pulled the breakup back into view just as viewers were hearing her describe how hard the day felt. She said, “I’m just having a moment. Today’s my 30-year anniversary. It makes me sad.”
Richards said the text itself was what sent her over the edge. She said Umansky wrote that “today’s always such a hard day and I love you,” and added, “I don’t know how we got here. I thought we were stronger than that.” For Richards, the words carried more weight than a routine check-in from an ex. They landed on the one day that marked what their marriage had been, not what it has become.
The separation also leaves open the next question hanging over Richards and Umansky: whether they will eventually file for divorce. Richards said in April that if that happens, she would fight to claim half of The Agency, and she has also said she worries that a legal filing could change the current arrangement, where the two peacefully coexist without the complications of a court fight. They share daughters Alexia, Sophia and Portia, which keeps the personal stakes high even as the relationship remains unsettled.
The anniversary text does not settle the larger break between them. It shows something more immediate: after a separation that has already lasted for months, the emotional center of the marriage is still unsettled, and Richards is still measuring what is left against what was lost.
