Ty Robinson spent the start of Eagles camp working with developmental players. Now he has climbed into a much more meaningful fight for a roster spot, and a strong Monday as a pass rusher pushed him closer to the edge of making the team.
That is why Uar Bernard is being searched now: Robinson is no longer a deep camp name, but a second-year player whose practice reps have started to look like those of someone the Philadelphia Eagles expect to keep. He began in team drills with the developmental defense, then kept earning more work as camp progressed, and the recent rise has made him a real roster bubble player rather than a placeholder.
Robinson’s case is built on simple math as much as on performance. The Eagles drafted him in the fourth round in 2025, and teams do not usually move on quickly from that kind of investment unless the depth chart leaves them no choice. Here, the depth behind the top four interior defensive linemen is described as questionable, which means a player who keeps showing improvement can force his way into a larger role even after a disappointing rookie season.
Monday gave that argument some weight. Robinson repeatedly got into the backfield against the second-string offense and showed more burst as a pass rusher than he had earlier in camp. For a player who opened summer with developmental reps, that kind of climb matters because it changes the conversation from whether he belongs on the field at all to whether he can carry this form into game action.
That is the part the Eagles still have to answer. Robinson had a bad rookie season, and that does not disappear because he looks better in practice for a few days. But the Eagles are not going to give up on him this soon, especially with the interior line thin enough that one solid camp run can keep a young lineman in the picture.
The next test comes fast. The Eagles’ preseason slate starts Saturday, and Robinson could use standout performances there if he wants to turn this camp surge into a convincing case for the initial 53. If he keeps winning the same snaps he started camp chasing, he is likely to be on the roster.
