Arie Luyendyk Jr. had a second vasectomy on Aug. 14, closing the loop on a decision he once reversed so he and Lauren Burnham could have another baby. He said this time he went in alone.
He framed the procedure in blunt terms on an Instagram Story, writing, “Today’s a good day to get a vasectomy,” and later saying, “I’m going at it alone this time.” The 44-year-old added that the first procedure felt different, saying, “The first time was a little traumatic, and Lauren being there felt weird.”
The family reason for the move is straightforward. Luyendyk and Burnham welcomed their fourth child last year, and they now have daughter Alessi, twins Senna and Lux, and baby girl Livvy. After reversing his first vasectomy in 2024, he had said in June 2025 that four children was enough and that anything beyond that would be “kind of crazy.”
What changed between the two procedures was not just timing but attitude. He said the second experience was easier because he found a new doctor who uses laughing gas, and he contrasted the procedure with childbirth, saying, “But honestly, I can’t complain. This doesn’t hold a candle to giving birth.” That is a different tone from the earlier period, when he said he had felt overwhelmed with childcare after the twins were born in 2021 and had sounded unsure about having children later in life.
The reversal and the second vasectomy leave little ambiguity about where the couple stands now. He has already moved from not wanting any more children to reopening the door, then back again, and this latest step reads like a final answer. If there is any open question left, it is not whether the family is complete, but whether Luyendyk will ever describe a medical decision with the same certainty twice.
