Lyric Medeiros left Big Brother after houseguests flipped their votes at the last minute, but the bigger story for her did not end at the eviction door. The 25-year-old practicing attorney in Hawaii said the season led to a relationship with Rome Seymour after they got to know each other inside the house and then continued it after she was out.
That is why Lyric Medeiros Big Brother has become a search worth following now: the eviction was only part of what came out of her run, and she has been talking openly about how the show changed her personal life. Medeiros said she was recruited by a casting producer, entered the house to honor her late grandmother from Kauai, and told herself she had to do it because it was one of her grandmother’s favorite shows. She also competed for the $750,000 grand prize.
For Medeiros, the early stretch of the game felt almost welcoming. She said the first couple of weeks were exciting because everyone was getting to know each other, even as she understood that the friendships inside the house were only part of the game. Before entering, contestants had to go through a strict 12-day sequester in a hotel room with no telephone, television or outside communication, and that isolation made the move into the house feel even sharper once the pressure started.
The pressure built quickly. Medeiros said she could not sleep during her final three nights because of paranoia and constant whispering, and she believed she had been told she was safe as a pawn because she was well-liked. Then the vote changed, and she said the reason given to her was that she had won a previous competition. That is the part that turns her eviction from routine reality-TV drama into something more pointed: she felt secure, then learned that the room had shifted against her anyway.
Her personal connection to Seymour, though, is what gives the season a second ending. Medeiros said he supported her during a breakdown in her first week when she was homesick, holding her and telling her, “I’m not leaving you until you feel better.” She said they had many conversations before they kissed for the first time, and what viewers may have seen on camera was only the beginning of what was developing between them. She added that people often assume her strategy was flirting with everyone in the house, but said there was only one person she really liked and that was Seymour.
Now she says he is planning to visit Hawaii soon, and they have discussed potentially competing together on The Amazing Race in the future. Medeiros also said she was happy that LaTrice “Lala” Verrett won the next Head of Household Wall competition, a small sign that the game kept moving after her exit even as her own story shifted somewhere else. For her, the season ended with an eviction. It also ended with a relationship that may not stay tied to Big Brother at all.
