The company said players should send their creatures to Pokemon HOME before the shutdown date, making the coming cutoff the only window left to preserve them through the official transfer route.
Pokemon Bank has long functioned as a bridge for Pokemon in Pokemon Bank to move into Pokemon HOME, so the shutdown does more than end one service. It closes the only transfer function named in the announcement on the same day it stops the storage service, which means there is no separate grace period for users who wait until after February 26, 2027.
That timing leaves a simple problem with no workaround in the announcement: Pokemon stored in Pokemon Bank cannot stay there once the service ends, and they also cannot be transferred out after that date. The rule is not complicated, but it is unforgiving. Move them before the cutoff or lose the route entirely.
The announcement also pointed to support for Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen coming to Pokemon HOME in October, a separate update folded into the same news. But for anyone using Pokemon Bank, the immediate story is the shutdown itself, and the next move is just as clear: transfer now, while the service still exists.
