Jon Batiste has canceled several upcoming Northeast performances, pulling a portion of his scheduled shows in New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. In a statement posted to the social media accounts of the affected venues, he told ticket holders he was navigating personal circumstances and had to step away from part of the run.
The timing matters because fans who had planned to see him in the coming days now need to act on refunds. Batiste said refunds will be available through the original points of purchase, and he urged ticket holders to contact their point of sale for details.
The announcement was brief, but it landed with real weight because it came as Batiste continues to balance a public career with private strain at home. His wife, journalist Suleika Jaouad, relapsed in summer 2024 after a yearslong battle with leukemia and remains in treatment. In July 16 Instagram post, Jaouad wrote that one of illness's optical illusions is that an empty calendar translates into free time, a line that captured how medical care can fill even the spaces that look open from the outside.
Batiste has spoken before about supporting her through that journey. In a March 2025 interview with E! News, he said the treatments are indefinite and do not stop, a reality that helps explain why a tour calendar can change without warning. He also thanked fans for their support in the cancellation notice and said he truly can't wait to come back and perform soon.
What comes next is narrower than a full tour update but still important for anyone holding a ticket: the canceled Northeast dates are off the books, the refunds are in motion through the original sellers, and no replacement performances have been announced. Batiste's team is also working on new ways to share live music from Monk Meditations and Monk Movements, suggesting he is not stepping away from the stage so much as reshaping how he reaches it.
