A plane carrying players from the Party Animals baseball team was struck by lightning while flying to Lehigh Valley International Airport, but it landed safely, officials said.
The flight came from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and the safe landing means the team’s weekend schedule in the Lehigh Valley remains intact after a trip that was delayed in the air.
Garett Delano said on Facebook that he was on the plane when the lightning strike happened, and he later vlogged about the delayed trip on his YouTube page. His account added a small but telling detail: everything was fine while they were on the flight, even after the strike that turned an ordinary trip into something much harder to ignore.
The landing was the part that mattered most. A lightning strike can rattle a flight without bringing it down, and in this case the plane reached Lehigh Valley International Airport safely. What was not said is almost as important as what was: there was no public explanation of any damage, no detail about an inspection, and no word on exactly how long the delay lasted.
