Jason Harb died Saturday night after a two-vehicle crash at Shook Road and Jefferson Avenue in Harrison Township, a collision that left a local barber dead and a young child without his father. Deputies were sent to the intersection about 10:30 p.m. after reports of a crash, and Harb, 30, was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The crash involved a Chevrolet Silverado towing a trailer and a Cadillac SRX. Investigators said the Cadillac was turning left onto northbound Jefferson when it moved into the path of the pickup, setting off the collision. After impact, the Silverado left the roadway and struck an electrical pole on the northeast corner of the intersection. The driver of the Silverado, a 28-year-old man from Shelby township, stayed at the scene.
Family and friends identified the victim as Harb, who worked at Al’s Barber Shop on Harper Avenue in Clinton Township. The shop’s operators said it would be closed until further notice as they grieve what they called “this tremendous loss,” and asked the community to keep Harb’s family and loved ones in their thoughts and prayers. That closure gives a measure of how widely his death was felt, because the loss reached beyond one family and into a workplace that saw him every day.
At the center of that loss is Gianni, Harb’s 1-year-old son. Relatives set up a donation page for him, and as of Tuesday, 114 people had given $14,500. The money is meant to go directly to Gianni to help with daily needs and secure his future, while the family also faces the death of his mother, Lola, who passed away during the past year. Caterina Harb said the family is heartbroken and is trying to surround Gianni with love and support during an unimaginable time.
There is still one part of the crash that remains unresolved in public, even after the inquiry itself was finished: sheriff’s officials said the investigation has been completed, but they have not released any additional information. For Harb’s family, that means the facts of the collision are known, but the final accounting of what comes next has not been made public.
