Xbox has started handing out its 25th Anniversary profile badge today, a free item that anyone can claim simply by signing in to an Xbox account on console, PC, or the Xbox mobile app. The badge will stay available through the end of 2026 and can be shown on a player profile.

The badge is the most immediate part of a wider anniversary push that also includes community-created gamerpics, backgrounds and a dynamic theme, all published today through Xbox’s work with Klobrille and Ben Kenobi. Xbox is also surfacing curated Game Pass collections built around memorable games from across its history, including titles from the original XBOX, XBOX 360, XBOX One and Xbox Series X|S. Among the featured games are Fable Anniversary, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Fallout 4 and Psychonauts 2.

That spread matters because the free badge reaches nearly anyone with an account, while the other anniversary extras are more selective in how they land. A player can sign in and get the badge in seconds, but the XBOX FanFest Tour is a different kind of giveaway: tickets for each stop will be awarded through city-specific sweepstakes, and seats are limited. Xbox has already kicked off the Los Angeles stop at the XBOX Games Showcase and said it is headed to gamescom next.

The anniversary rollout fits a familiar pattern for Xbox, which is using its 25 years of play to keep attention moving across several channels at once. The company said more anniversary updates, exclusive experiences, products and news will keep arriving on the XBOX.com 25th Anniversary hub, where the celebration is being built out piece by piece. The result is a free offer that is open to almost everyone, paired with live events that will remain much harder to get into.

For now, the clearest answer for players is simple: the badge is live, the community designs are live, and the Game Pass collections are live. What comes next is the harder part of the celebration to follow, with the full FanFest Tour schedule and the sweepstakes details still doing the work of deciding who gets in.
