Apple is expected to use early September 2026 to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the foldable iPhone Ultra, setting up a launch cycle that could push the company’s next flagship phones into two different release windows. John Ternus is expected to take the stage, and his term of office officially begins Sept. 1.
The timing matters because buyers of the iPhone 18 lineup are already staring at a likely price increase, and the Pro models are the first ones expected to move. Tim Cook said in a June interview with the that price increases are unavoidable, and a separate analysis cited by the paper put memory chip components in the iPhone 18 Pro at $150 more than those in the iPhone 17 Pro. That helped drive an estimate of $1,299 for the iPhone 18 Pro.
The iPhone 18 rumors now revolve around what Apple will add to justify the jump. The Pro models are expected to come in light blue, silver, dark gray and dark cherry, while the hardware list points to bigger batteries, camera improvements, a variable aperture for the main camera and possibly a smaller Dynamic Island. Apple is also expected to release iOS 27 with the new phones, tying the software and hardware rollouts together in the same window.
But the clean story line has one snag. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected in fall 2026, while the regular iPhone 18 may not arrive until early 2027, breaking Apple’s usual rhythm of a yearly flagship update that has held since 2007. If that split holds, Apple would be treating the Pro models and the standard model as separate product moments, not one synchronized launch.
That is the part to watch as September gets closer. Apple typically holds its big iPhone showcase in September, and the company’s next one may answer whether the iPhone Ultra becomes a permanent name in the lineup and whether the rest of the iPhone 18 family follows quickly or waits until the new year.
