MiniMax has started the clock on Minimax H3. In a post on X, the company said “It’s coming” and paired it with the hashtag #MiniMaxH3, a short public signal that a new flagship AI model is on the way.
That is enough to get the AI community searching, because the teaser does more than announce a name. MiniMax also shared a brief video repeating “The world is multimodal,” a phrase that points toward a model built to work across text, visuals, audio and video rather than in one format alone. The post also tagged Hailuo AI, linking the tease to MiniMax’s broader product lineup and suggesting H3 could matter beyond a single launch page.
The company, though, has left the key question unanswered. The teaser does not confirm what H3 can actually do, and the video offers almost no technical detail. That gap is what is driving the speculation: users and observers are reading the messaging as a hint that MiniMax may be preparing to reveal a next-generation multimodal base model, or even a multimodal reasoning model, without yet saying so outright.
If that reading holds, H3 would sit in direct comparison with systems from OpenAI, Google and Anthropic, where multimodal capability has become one of the main markers of progress in AI. A model of that kind could eventually feed MiniMax’s consumer AI products, giving the company a base that can handle more than text alone and pushing its ecosystem closer to a full-stack AI offering.
The teaser also lands against the backdrop of MiniMax’s recent work on Speech 2.8, which the company says improves voice quality with more expressive speaking generation, smoother pronunciation and more grounded emotional delivery. MiniMax said Speech 2.8 is built to create more lifelike voices that track rhythm, tone and chat-like flow, can handle multiple languages and different voice styles, and can generate speech for AI assistants, audiobooks, podcasts, video narration, customer service, educational content and digital avatars. That makes the H3 tease look less like a one-off and more like another step in a wider multimodal stack.
For now, the cleanest conclusion is that MiniMax is signaling a major release without yet defining it. The company has not released the full specifications for H3, and until it does, the teaser leaves readers with a promise, not a product sheet.
