YouTube is expanding its partnership with NBCUniversal, and the change will soon give eligible YouTube Premium subscribers in the U.S. access to ad-supported Peacock Premium. The deal also brings a selection of live sporting events from NBCUniversal to NBC Sports’ YouTube channel.

For subscribers, that means one membership could open a door to Peacock Premium, which includes live sports, Universal movies and original series, while YouTube broadens the range of content tied to its service. The move matters now because millions of users could see the value of their subscription change before long, even though the company has not yet put a launch date on the table.

The announcement came in a YouTube Official Blog post and frames the partnership as an expansion across YouTube and YouTube TV. It is a neat fit on paper: more entertainment for eligible YouTube Premium members, more live sports for viewers on YouTube, and a bigger reach for NBCUniversal content inside YouTube’s ecosystem.

But the most important detail is still missing. YouTube said it will share more details and official launch dates over the coming months, which leaves the rollout open-ended for now. The deal is real, the access is promised and the clock has started, but the exact moment subscribers will be able to use it has not been set.
