Norman Reedus has put a new date on the end of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon: the fourth and final season will air in 2027, not 2026. The shift matters because the series had already been framed for a 2026 finish, and now fans of Daryl and Carol Peletier have another year to wait.
That update landed ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, where Reedus made clear the final chapter is no longer coming next year. For viewers following the spinoff on AMC and AMC+, the change also resets the pace of the wider Walking Dead schedule, which has been moving through Daryl Dixon and Dead City as the franchise continues beyond the original series.
The timing is especially notable because these seasons have historically arrived in September. If the earlier 2026 plan had held, the franchise could have put 16 episodes on air in one calendar year. With the final season moved to 2027, that possibility is gone.
The last run was also filmed in Spain through the third and fourth quarters of 2025, which means the production side was already well into motion before the release date changed. That makes the delay less about whether the season exists and more about when AMC wants to release it.
There is still a gap in the story AMC has not filled in publicly: why the network moved the season from 2026 to 2027 after earlier confirming the older date. What is clear is the consequence.
