Most PlayStation Network services were back online after a roughly eight-hour outage, but the PlayStation Store was still having problems. Account management, gaming and social features, PlayStation Video and PlayStation Direct had returned, restoring much of what players had lost when the network went down.
The timing mattered because players were trying to log in and get back to online games on a day when the PlayStation 5 title Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls was set to begin its open beta. During the outage, some players could not check out the game at all, and the delay left a major storefront unavailable even after most other services had recovered.
The issue had already stretched long enough to disrupt more than six hours of service, and the reason for the outage was still not clear. The Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls X account said some PlayStation players were experiencing login and network issues, while the game’s team said it was actively investigating the problem and working to identify the cause.
That made the partial recovery important but incomplete. Players could get back into much of the network, yet the missing PlayStation Store meant the disruption was not fully over and some digital access remained out of reach. PlayStation had also said earlier in the month that it would stop producing physical discs for new games in January 2028, a reminder that the company is pushing more of its business toward the same online systems that had just gone dark.
The unanswered question now is not whether the service is improving, but how long it will take before the last major piece is restored. Until the PlayStation Store is fully back, the outage still has a hold on the part of PlayStation that most directly turns a login into a purchase, a download or a play session.
