Google has started rolling out Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7 to enrolled testers with a Pixel 6 or newer phone, and the update is aimed at fixing a stubborn Quick Settings bug tied to Battery Share. The patch notes, shared on Reddit this week, say the beta addresses a failure to start charging and a separate problem where the wireless charging animation could keep appearing.
That matters now because Pixel users searching for phone fixes are looking at a bug that has lingered for months. Google said the Battery Share issue had been known since January, when users began reporting that it would sometimes do nothing at all or would only show the charging animation. By February, Google had received seven reports of the first Quick Settings problem, and in May it responded that a fix was coming.
The update is narrower than the one that came before it. Android 17 QPR1 Beta 6 rolled out two weeks ago and reached Platform Stability, while also carrying a separate visual glitch that showed up when users rapidly swiped through the media carousel and affected the Quick Settings layout and settings icon. Beta 7 is not a broad milestone release like that. It is a targeted cleanup pass for a part of the UI that Google knows has frustrated testers for a while.
What Google did not spell out is just as important as what it did. The patch notes mention Battery Share from Quick Settings, but they do not identify the other two Quick Settings fixes beyond that label, leaving testers to wait for the update itself to show exactly what changed. For now, the main takeaway is simple: if you are on a Pixel 6 or newer and enrolled in the beta, the new build is arriving now, but Google has not said when this line of phone software will move from test release to stable.
That leaves Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7 in a familiar place for Pixel beta users: useful, specific and still incomplete. It solves a problem Google has tracked since January, but it also shows how much of Pixel Quick Settings remains under repair even after Platform Stability was already reached.
