Warner Bros. has pushed The Batman Part II to Feb. 18, 2028, moving Matt Reeves’ sequel off its Oct. 1, 2027 date and onto the four-day Presidents Day holiday weekend. The studio said the film will still play on Imax screens when it opens.
Reeves said the date change news on social this morning, and the shift arrives as readers track where Robert Pattinson Batman goes next after months of churn around the movie’s schedule. Pattinson is still set to return as Batman, with Andy Serkis back as Alfred and Colin Farrell returning as Penguin.
The new date gives Reeves additional time in post-production after the film’s start of production was delayed five months. That extra runway matters because Warner Bros. is now trying to keep a tentpole in place while reshaping the rest of its calendar around it.
The Batman Part II is not the only title moving. J.J. Abrams’ The Great Beyond slid from Nov. 13 to Oct. 1, 2027, with Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega leading a cast that also includes Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Merritt Wever and Samuel L. Jackson. Warner Bros. also moved Panic Carefully from Feb. 26, 2027 to April 9, 2027 in Imax, while Revenge of La Llorona shifted from April 9 next year to Feb. 26.
There is still a gap at the center of the Batman delay: Warner Bros. has said the new date gives Reeves more time in post-production, but it has not spelled out the specific issue that forced the five-month push. What is clear is that the studio wants the sequel on a holiday weekend that has worked for superhero films before, and it wants to keep Imax in the mix even after the move. For Pattinson and Reeves, the next hard date now is Feb. 18, 2028.
