The Challenge is moving to Paramount+ for Season 42, and the new run arrives August 5 under the title The Challenge: Cutthroat. The shift gives the long-running competition a new home while keeping the stakes in place: 24 competitors, three teams and a $500,000 prize.
That is why viewers are searching now. The premiere date is set, the platform move is locked in and Victoria “Tori” Deal is among the names on the cast list. Brad Fiorenza, Chris “CT” Tamburello, Johnny Bananas, Michele Fitzgerald and Nurys Mateo are also in the field, giving the season a mix of familiar faces and newer challengers in Thailand.
The format carries its own wrinkle. All 24 players will be split into three teams, but the money does not come home because one person makes a late push alone. The only way to take home a share of the cash prize is to cross the finish line together as a unit, which means every move, mistake and finish matters to the group as much as to the individual.
That setup makes the title fit the game: Cutthroat signals a season built around team pressure, not just one-on-one ambition. It also marks another step in the franchise’s platform history, after earlier runs on MTV and a version of The Challenge: All Stars on Paramount+, even as Benjamin Hurvitz and Melissa Tallerine continue to executive produce for MTV. Bunim/Murray Productions remains behind the series, with Julie Pizzi, Justin Booth and Jacob Lane as executive producers, while Diego Amson, Brad Tiemann, Joe Awful and Margaret Morales round out the production team.
What comes next is straightforward. On August 5, the teams are set to form, the race for the $500,000 prize begins and the season will quickly answer the only question that matters here: which group can stay intact long enough to finish together.
