Jennifer Beals is joining NCIS New York, stepping in as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Robyn Wells opposite LL Cool J and Scott Caan. The casting adds a senior presence to the new CBS spinoff and brings three more series regulars into the mix.
That matters now because NCIS New York is set to arrive this fall as part of CBS’ NCIS-branded Tuesday lineup, with episodes streaming next day on Paramount+. Beals will play the director of the NCIS New York field office, a role built around instinct and respect inside the team.
LL Cool J is back as NCIS Special Agent Sam Hanna, who returns to his hometown of New York City and works with Nick Schaeffer in the field office. The setup keeps the franchise’s familiar backbone in place while giving the new series its own internal shape, with Scott Caan playing a new character rather than carrying over his NCIS role.
Beals’ casting also joins Jacqueline Byers, Shane Harper and Devin Druid, who were added as series regulars. Byers plays NCIS Special Agent Addison “Addy” Ross, described as rock-solid, tough and resourceful with something to prove; Harper plays NCIS Special Agent Wyatt Hill, a fearless and highly skilled field agent; and Druid plays NCIS Tech Specialist Sean Sullivan, who is witty, brilliant and resistant to authority.
The lineup gives CBS Studios a fuller opening move for the franchise’s latest installment, with Byron Balasco serving as showrunner and executive producers including R. Scott Gemmill, Adam Davidson, Kyle Harimoto, Joe Wilson, LL Cool J and Jason Barrett. The exact premiere date has not been announced, but the series is clearly being assembled for a fall launch rather than held for later in the year.
For now, the most useful answer is also the simplest one: NCIS New York is no longer just a title and a promise. It has its lead face, its core agents and a schedule window, and CBS is using all three to push the series into view before the season begins.
