A leaked trophy list suggests Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 may arrive on PS4 and PS5 later this month without some of the multiplayer features that defined the originals. The online lists are largely identical to the PS3 versions, but several trophies tied to theater mode, League Play and wager matches have been removed.
That is why players are searching now. Both games are due on modern PlayStation consoles sometime in July, and the prospect of Black Ops 1 and 2 PS5 versions reaching a new audience has put the focus on what will actually survive the jump. Activision has confirmed the campaign, multiplayer and Zombies modes, but not the exact release date.
The leak came from Cade Onder, who reported the trophy-list differences and flagged the possibility that the re-releases could trim back older features. Theater mode let players replay matches and move the camera around, while wager matches let them risk in-game currency on more unusual modes. Gun Game and One in the Chamber are part of that same family of side modes, but the trophy changes do not prove they are gone; they only show that the trophies tied to those systems were removed, which leaves open the possibility that some content remains in the game without a matching achievement.
That distinction matters because the trophy lists are mostly unchanged from the original PS3 releases, so removed trophies could mean removed features — or simply a cleaner trophy set for the new versions. League Play is the sharpest example of that uncertainty: a trophy tied to it has also been removed, but that does not by itself settle whether the mode itself is missing.
Black Ops first released in 2010, and wager matches sit at the center of the concern because they were built around gambling in-game currency at a time when rules around that kind of content were less developed. Theater mode also had a clear use beyond play, especially when YouTube was still young and players used replays to build clips. For now, the evidence points to PS4 and PS5 versions that keep the core package intact while potentially stripping out some of the features that made both games feel more complete on PS3.
Activision has not answered the one question that matters most: whether those missing trophies are a sign of missing modes, or just missing trophies. With the releases due in July, that answer should come soon, and it will decide whether these versions are straight preservation jobs or pared-down remasters.
