Jeremy Renner's Arrival is getting a 10th-anniversary 4K Blu-ray SteelBook release on September 8. The new edition has already had its artwork revealed, giving fans of the 2016 sci-fi film a fresh reason to look again at one of the decade's most acclaimed releases.
Renner stars opposite Amy Adams in Denis Villeneuve's film, which adapted Ted Chiang's Story of Your Life and cast him as Ian Donnelly, the physicist brought in to help Louise Banks make sense of the aliens' language. The movie was a hit beyond its critical reputation, earning $203.3 million worldwide on a $47 million budget while becoming one of the more durable modern sci-fi titles still in circulation.
That lasting appeal is part of why the timing works. Arrival was nominated for eight Oscars in the year it qualified, including Best Picture and Best Director, but it left the ceremony with only Achievement in Sound Editing. The new SteelBook plays to collectors who already know the film's value and to newer viewers who may have found it on Paramount+ or Pluto TV.
The one thing still not clear is whether the September 8 release brings anything beyond the new packaging and artwork. For now, the anniversary edition looks like a clean celebration of a movie that paired high-concept sci-fi with a strong commercial run and awards-season respect, even if the trophy count never matched the praise.
