What she found inside tracked the arc of her work and her home life. There were now-vintage Magnolia merchandise items, cake stands she had crafted herself from collected white serveware and later sold in the early days of running her Waco boutique, plus the entire pink milk glass collection from her Hearth & Hand with Target line, which was available as part of an Easter release almost 10 years ago. She also showed her dad’s old baseball mitt, a miscellaneous wig and a never-before-used glassware set that had appeared on her 2003 wedding registry.
The most revealing part of the tour was not the polished storage but the clutter she seemed mildly embarrassed to show. Gaines called the attic a problem and pointed to a windowsill dotted with bug carcasses, a detail that stood in sharp contrast to the orderly look fans saw elsewhere in the room.
