Bardem tied the songs to mood more than method. He said the tracks were in his head all day long before doing anything, helped put him in the right frame, and that he even listens to Slipknot to go to sleep. Cape Fear itself is an Apple TV adaptation of The Executioners, the 1957 novel that also inspired earlier film versions in 1962 and 1991, so Bardem’s comments land on a story that already carries its own history of reinvention.
The unfinished part is not whether heavy music influenced him — he said plainly that it did — but which specific songs by Slipknot, Falling In Reverse and Bad Omens sat in his head while he worked.
