Sony had not yet revealed the July 2026 PlayStation Plus Essential lineup, but the next monthly games were expected to be announced on Wednesday July 1 and made available on Tuesday July 7. That left PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers waiting for the three titles they would be able to claim at the start of the month.

That timing is why the search for PlayStation Plus games was already picking up. Sony typically reveals the following month’s lineup on the last Wednesday of the month, then puts the new games live on the first Tuesday. For July, the schedule pointed to a reveal on July 1 and a release on July 7, so the window for an announcement was narrow.

The June 2026 lineup was still available for a little over a week, with Grounded (Fully Yoked Edition), Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide still downloadable. That matters because subscribers who want to keep claiming the current month’s games have to stay ahead of the next reset, especially when the next set has not been published yet.

There was one thing missing from the usual run-up: reliable leaks. Even as the expected reveal drew close, there was no solid early list for July’s games, which left the June lineup and Sony’s normal cadence as the only real guide. The pattern is familiar enough to make the wait predictable, but not enough to tell subscribers which three games will land next.

That is the part readers still need answered, and it will not stay open for long. The next confirmed moment is the expected PlayStation Plus Games reveal on Wednesday July 1, when Sony is due to show whether July’s Essential lineup follows the same monthly rhythm as 2026’s earlier drops, which included Need for Speed: Unbound in January, Subnautica: Below Zero in February, Monster Hunter Rise in March, Lords of the Fallen in April, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers in May and June’s three-game set. PlayStation Plus Essential costs $10.99 per month or $79.99 per year, while Extra and Premium are priced higher and are handled on a different reveal schedule.

PlayStation Plus is Sony’s monthly membership program for online play and monthly games. Essential is the tier that includes the three free monthly titles, while Extra and Premium add larger libraries and older catalog games from PS2, PS3 and PS4. For now, July’s Essential trio is still the open question, and the answer should arrive on July 1.
