Mike Scotto of HoopsHype reported that Detroit is actively working the market on Sasser, and the timing matters because the Pistons have already moved Isaiah Stewart and added Ebuka Okorie and Isaiah Joe. That leaves a crowded group of small guards, including Sasser and Daniss Jenkins, with the hard math pointing toward at least one more change before opening night.
Sasser's case has always been a tricky one. He did not crack the rotation full time last season, but Bickerstaff eventually gave him a playoff look, which suggested he still had a path to stick around. He is an efficient shooter and he can hold his own on defense, yet he is undersized and does not create much for anyone but himself, and that profile has not become easier to fit as Detroit has added more bodies in the same lane.
The latest additions have pushed him further down the depth chart, and that is usually where trade talks turn practical. Detroit could move him on his own, but league interest may also center on whether he can be used as a sweetener in a larger deal, which would let the Pistons keep adjusting the roster without giving up a more established piece.
The clean read is that Sasser is no longer being treated as a player Detroit has to protect. If the right deal comes along, he looks available, and if it does not, the Pistons may still have to clear the logjam before the season starts.
