Helena Chard said Harry can engage with his mother's story on his own terms, without the royal household's protocol, and added that the estate offers privacy, seclusion and a connection to Diana's memory that Buckingham Palace cannot provide. She also said it is the kind of comfortable luxury Meghan prefers and that the Sussexes can call the shots.
Even so, one part of the trip is still far from settled. An Archewell spokesperson said the organization would not comment on the couple's accommodations for security reasons, leaving open whether the family will actually stay at Althorp House when they travel. That uncertainty matters because the visit is expected to be their first in the U.K. together since Meghan officially visited in September 2022, and the last time they stayed in Britain was after Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8, 2022, when they joined the royal family for her funeral.
What is already clear is that the July visit is likely to be measured as much by who does not appear as by who does. Royal watchers say a reconciliation with Prince William remains unlikely amid their ongoing rift, so the trip is shaping up less as a family reunion at the top of the monarchy and more as a tightly managed stop built around Harry's charity work and his children's first real link to Diana's legacy. The next thing to watch is whether the Sussexes settle on Althorp House or choose a more private arrangement before they land next month.
