Gunter also brought a sports background into the villa. He played lacrosse for Drexel University and had not played sports professionally, a detail that helped separate him from the usual reality-show cast member profile.
The comparison lands partly because Hurts, 27, has been off the market since college, when he began dating Bryonna “Bry” Burrows. The pair tied the knot in a private ceremony in the spring of 2025 and held a second celebration in Napa Valley, California, on June 14, 2025. Hurts also spent part of the offseason on the football side of the ledger, with the Philadelphia Eagles finishing minicamp earlier this month and Sean Mannion preparing the offense before the team turns to preseason.
That is what made Gunter stand out for a brief moment: he entered Love Island USA with a viral comparison attached to him, but the show did not keep him long enough for it to matter.
