Anthropic said about 10:25AM ET that it had identified the issue behind the Claude outage and was implementing a fix. For users of Claude, that was the first clear sign that the interruption was moving out of the uncertainty stage and into repair.
That is why searches for Is Claude down? spiked now. Claude was unavailable for many users, and the live status update gave them a reason to look for confirmation beyond the app itself. Reports of the outage were also dropping on Down Detector, a sign that the disruption was no longer climbing even as it was still being felt by users of Claude.
The timing matters because this was not just a static error message. It was a live service problem with a defined update attached to it, the kind that pushes people to refresh, retry, and search at the same time. A separate report noted that Claude was down, or at least it was, and the latest status change showed Anthropic had moved from investigating to acting.
That did not make the response feel fully settled. Anthropic’s own status dashboard showed the outage was a pretty common occurrence, which undercut any sense that this was an isolated blip. The company was saying the problem had been identified, but the public-facing picture still pointed to a service that had developed a pattern of trouble rather than a one-off stumble.
What remains unanswered is the simplest part: what caused the outage in the first place. For now, the only confirmed next step is the fix Anthropic said it was already implementing, and that is the detail users are left to watch.
