Electronic Arts will shut down the PlayStation servers for Grid Legends on September 11, 2026, ending the game’s online life on PS5 and PS4 while leaving its single-player campaign in place. When that date arrives, cross-platform play, online multiplayer modes, Quick Race, Dynamic Events, and leaderboards that depend on an internet connection will no longer work.
The shutdown lands on a game that was released in 2022 and was developed by Codemasters, making it another reminder of how quickly online features can disappear even when the core game remains playable. For players, the immediate reason to pay attention is simple: if they still use the online side of Grid Legends, the clock is already running toward a fixed cutoff.
What makes the move harder to square is that the game is not being treated as a full shutdown. Grid Legends will still be available as a single-player experience on PS5 and PS4 after September 11, 2026, and EA has not confirmed any delisting plans. That leaves the game in an awkward middle state: still on the shelves for now, still playable offline later, but stripped of the online pieces that once gave it much of its replay value.
The numbers around the game help explain why the announcement is being watched closely. Grid Legends carries a Metacritic average of 76 on PS5 and a 4.02/5 player rating from more than 7,000 verified votes, so it is not a forgotten release with no audience attached. Even so, online services are being wound down on a set date, which means ownership will soon stop including the features that connect players to one another and to ongoing competition.
September 11, 2026 is now the line that matters. After that, Grid Legends will still exist, but only as a solo racing game with no online multiplayer, no cross-platform play, and no connection-based extras.
