Halo Waypoint corrected its Q&A on June 20 and said a Playstation Plus account is not required for local co-op play in Halo: Campaign Evolved. The update fixed an earlier line that had pointed PlayStation players to a subscription they do not need for that mode.
The clarification lands now because Halo: Campaign Evolved is due out on July 28, with the Premium Edition opening up to 5 days of Early Access on July 23. For players sorting out what they need before launch, the difference matters: local co-op on Playstation does not call for Playstation Plus, but anyone playing the game on any platform will still need a Microsoft account and XBOX Gamertag, which Halo Waypoint said are tied to cross-platform play and cross-platform progression.
Halo Waypoint framed the Q&A as a response to questions gathered online and in its mentions, which is why the correction is being treated as part of the launch setup rather than a footnote. The page also says the Collector’s Edition is sold out and will not be restocked, and that retail partners audited orders with no evidence of widespread scalping. Only a tiny percentage of purchases showed suspicious behavior, and those orders were refunded.
There are still a few pieces fans cannot pin down from the Q&A. Halo Waypoint said there are no current plans for a Photo Mode or Theater Mode, hitmarkers can be turned off in the settings, and the Mark IV armor will be limited to the 3 new bonus missions. It also said there are 3 Skulls hidden on each mission in the 10-mission campaign, plus another 3 Skulls unlocked through Campaign Remix, but it did not say how many players can use local co-op on Playstation at launch. That is the detail people looking for a clean answer will still be waiting on as July 28 gets closer.
Halo’s launch is coming fast, and the correction does what a good launch-day update should do: it removes a false barrier before players run into it themselves.
