The blast came just as firework safety was already on the minds of Dr. Rao Chundury and his children, Rishi and Reeya, who have been promoting the issue through Eye on July.
The timing gave the damage a sharper edge. For the July Fourth holiday, Eye on July distributed 8,000 pairs of free safety glasses, a reminder that fireworks can turn quickly from celebration to hazard when things go wrong. This incident showed that risk in a more violent form, with debris scattered beyond the property and into nearby streets and yards.
