Heavy thunderstorms knocked out power across Bexar County Monday, but by 7 p.m. CPS Energy had restored service to a majority of customers. The utility still had 58 customers without electricity after a day of scattered outages tied to the storm system.
That update mattered because the scale was not small: by 9 a.m., more than 8,322 homes were without power across over 60 separate outage locations. A CPS Energy Outage Map was referenced as crews tracked the disruption while the weather moved through overnight and into the morning.
The storms brought heavy rain, strong winds and dangerous lightning, and they also triggered a flash flood warning. Those conditions are enough to damage lines, trip equipment and leave crews to sort out multiple failures at once, which is why utility workers were dispatched to assess damage and restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
By late Monday, the story had shifted from widespread loss of service to the last small group still waiting. CPS crews were working on the remaining 58 customers, but the update did not say when they would be restored, leaving the final repairs as the part of the outage story still unresolved.
For families in homes that had already gone dark earlier in the day, the progress was real. For the 58 still without power, the day ended with crews on the job and no public timetable yet for the final reconnection.
