Verizon announced Verizon Simplicity in NEW YORK today, pitching the new mobile option as a cleaner way to buy wireless service. The plan is priced at $45, with an initial promotional offer of $30 per line for mobile customers who switch to Verizon.
The launch lands now because Verizon is tying it to a broader reset of how it sells service. Dan Schulman said the company is fundamentally reshaping Verizon inside and out to put the customer at the center of everything it does, and the carrier said Simplicity is meant to be its most simple and cost-effective plan.
What that means in practice is fewer moving parts. Verizon said there are no network tiers with Simplicity, and every customer gets its best 5G network. The plan also includes premium performance with 5G Ultra Wideband, unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband data, 10GB of premium mobile hotspot, roaming in Canada and Mexico, and satellite texting as standard.
That simplicity comes with a catch: the headline price is easy to see, but the savings depend on the offer a customer qualifies for. Verizon says the $30 per line price is an introductory promotion for switchers, while the standard plan price is $45. The company also said it is eliminating activation and upgrade fees, which pushes the offer further toward a single monthly number, even as the full value still depends on what services a customer actually uses.
Verizon framed the move as part of a multi-year transformation and paired it with the rollout of Verizon Loyalty, which starts today and can be joined through the My Verizon app. Alfonso Villanueva said the company is doubling down on simpler experiences, less friction, and more rewards for being a customer, while Verizon One adds another layer by combining Mobility and Home on one bill with taxes and fees included.
For customers, the immediate question is not whether Verizon is selling simplicity. It is how long the $30 per line promotional offer lasts, because that answer determines whether Verizon Simplicity is a short-term lure or the new baseline for switchers.
