Counties to the south-east are under a heat advisory from Saturday at noon through 8 p.m. as north Georgia braces for a hot, muggy weekend that could make the air feel as hot as 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures are expected to peak in the low 90s on Saturday, with the local heat index near or above 100 degrees.

That is why people in the metro area are searching for Atlanta Weather now: the hottest stretch lands on Saturday, when the rain chance is only 10% to 20% and outdoor plans are most exposed. Health officials are urging anyone spending time outside to drink plenty of water, wear light clothing and take breaks in air-conditioned spaces.

The heat is not expected to last long in its current form. A cold front is due into the area by Sunday afternoon, and it should bring numerous showers and thunderstorms across Georgia. For Saturday, though, the setup is simple: very hot, mostly dry and uncomfortable enough to raise the risk of heat-related illness for anyone staying outside too long.

The forecast, provided by the meteorologists, points to a sharp turn after the peak heat. Events such as the World Cup Watch Party and are the kind of outdoor gatherings that can feel the strain first, because the combination of humidity and low 90s heat leaves little margin for long stretches in the sun. By Sunday afternoon, the question is not whether the weather changes, but how quickly the rain and storms arrive once the front moves through.
