Nick Jonas turned a February wardrobe mix-up into fresh television material on June 3, saying he found Glen Powell's plane ticket in the pocket of pants he wore after an appearance on The Tonight Show. The discovery came up again when Jonas sat down with Jimmy Fallon and said the ticket was still there, along with a note he had written on a tissue.
Jonas said the pants were likely the same pair Powell had worn before a brand lent them for an event, a detail that gave the story its odd edge. On Instagram in February, Jonas posted about the incident, and Powell responded with a joke that the Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants should come with a hygiene pact. Powell later said Jonas FaceTimed him and showed him the ticket, after Jonas asked whether he could share the mix-up online.
The story landed because Jonas did not just recount the mistake; he used it to make a pitch. He said he wrote, on a tissue, a note asking Powell to talk to the producers about including him in a sequel to Top Gun, and Fallon called the whole idea for a movie “great.” Jonas went further and said the movie with him and Powell would get made.
There was also a small, embarrassing detail that made the anecdote feel more real than promotional. Powell later joked, “They didn't wash these for you?!? I feel like the Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants should incorporate some sort of hygiene pact,” and said, “I love Nick so much,” before adding that his reaction was “not no.” The joke landed because the pants apparently had not been washed after Powell wore them, which gave the whole exchange a little bite beneath the celebrity banter.
Jonas and Powell already know each other from Scream Queens, and the exchange gave both men another public reminder that the relationship is friendly enough to survive a stray plane ticket and a social-media tease. Jonas, 33, is also promoting Power Ballad, which is now in theaters, while Jumanji: Open World opens Dec. 25. Whether the pants story becomes a real sequel idea is still unsettled, but Jonas has made his pitch in public and Powell has not shut the door.
