Aaron Hill Illinois Principal Resignation comes amid felony aggravated battery charge

resigned Monday as principal of , ending his time leading the Illinois school while he faces a felony aggravated battery charge. The received an irrevocable letter of resignation from Hill, and it took effect immediately.

The resignation lands after Hill had already been on administrative leave since February, when district officials were notified of an investigation tied to an off-campus incident in Marion, Illinois. The district said then that the matter did not involve students or student safety, but Hill still remained out of the building as the criminal case moved ahead.

Frankfort Community High School now loses a principal who had been in the post since 2023, after nearly 20 years at a middle school. Hill also previously served as president of the during the 2012-13 school year, a role that made his fall from the top job in Frankfort more abrupt for the district and the community around it.

According to the , Hill was arrested on Feb. 4 and charged with aggravated battery. Court records show he is scheduled to appear for a pretrial hearing on June 29, leaving the district with a vacancy while the criminal case continues to work through court.
