Chris Pratt has made his pick: if Star-Lord is getting a crossover partner, he wants Deadpool. Asked which character he would truly want to pair up with, Pratt said he “really, really loved Deadpool” and singled out Ryan Reynolds for how he handled the role.
That answer is landing now because Pratt’s Marvel character has been back in the conversation while the MCU moves into a new phase, and fans keep looking for the next pairing that could feel fresh rather than forced. Pratt plays Peter “Star-Lord” Quill, so when he names Deadpool, he is pointing straight at one of the few Marvel characters with enough swagger and comic timing to match the Guardians universe’s own style.
Pratt did more than offer a polite compliment. He said Reynolds had “goated himself with that performance,” added that he “really nailed it,” and said he would “love to be there for the process” of seeing Deadpool brought to life. The praise matters because it comes from someone who knows how much of a character’s success rests on the actor selling the joke, the timing and the attitude.
The matchup also makes sense in a broader Marvel context. Disney had not yet acquired Fox in 2014, when the Guardians of the Galaxy made their live-action debut, and Deadpool only became part of the Disney-controlled Marvel family later. By 2016, Deadpool had done for its audience what Star-Lord and the Guardians did in 2014: become a defining fan favorite built on pop-culture reference humor and an irreverent tone.
That is where the wish meets reality. Pratt’s interest in a Star-Lord and Deadpool pairing is only speculative, and no one has announced a project that would put them together. The comment shows what kind of crossover would excite one of Marvel’s biggest names; it does not show that Marvel is ready to make it happen.
For now, the answer to the fan question is clear. Pratt would most want Star-Lord to team up with Deadpool, and the next question is whether Marvel ever decides that the two characters belong in the same story.
